Tuesday 5/22/2012 IranAirs Participation in the International Aviation Safety Seminar
The Airline of the Islamic Republic of Iran participated in the 64th international aviation safety seminar which was held in Singapore. According to IranAir Public relations reports, Evaluation and Enhancing of Operational Performance and Training Objective in Accordance with Line Operations Safety Audit (LOSA), an article prepared by two of the SQA specialists, received considerable applause and admiration from accredited international specialists among the other 12 articles presented in this seminar last year and IranAir was praised for offering a new policy in the filed of safety.

To reduce flight incidents and accidents, threats and errors identification are vital for an airline. To fulfill this, LOSA (Line Operations Safety Audit) is one of the approaches to the safety management system. LOSA is among the well-known incident/accident prevention systems and is a new approach for data gathering to identify threats and hazards.

LOSA was first implemented in 1994 in Delta Airlines and the result was an extensive improvement in the operational control system. Till date, 45 airlines have implemented LOSA. In 2008, IranAir flight operations department along with some experienced pilots and safety & quality specialists implemented LOSA for the first time. In 2011, it was successfully implemented for the second time. Results from both implementations of LOSA have been used for flight operations training purposes and operational procedures to enhance threats and error reduction.

It must be noted that the above-mentioned article was published in the Aero Safety World in March 2012 which is available at www.flightsafety.org.
